“Keep Lindenhurst Beautiful” Clean Up Day

Students and Faculty from the Lindenhurst High School will be holding a “Keep Lindenhurst Beautiful” Clean Up Day on Saturday, October 28, 2017 beginning at 10:00 AM at the Village Square Park (intersection of Hoffman and Wellwood Avenues). The fee for registration is $5.00 and an additional $15.00 if participants wish to purchase a t-shirt. All proceeds will go towards the purchase and installation of recycling bins at the Village Square Park.

Registration can be done in advance by downloading and filling out the form available here and mailing to the address located on the form. Registration fees should be included along with the registration form.

Registration will also be available the day of the event.

16th Annual Halloween Family Fun Day: October 21, 2017

Mayor Michael Lavorata is pleased to announce that the Village of Lindenhurst will be  hosting our 16th Annual Halloween Family Fun Day.  This year the Village will once again provide a day of safe family-oriented Halloween fun featuring face painting, entertainment, games, hay ride, horse/pony rides, and a hot dog and beverage to all  children free of charge.  The event will be held on Saturday October 21, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm. at Lindenhurst Village Park at Fellers Pond off Charles Street.  Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle said “the last sixteen years of Halloween Family Fun Days have been overwhelmingly enjoyed by all involved so I hope to see you at the event.”

New Vacuum Truck for Department of Public Works

Mayor Michael Lavorata is happy to announce that the Village of Lindenhurst has recently purchased a Vacuum Cleaning Truck.  The Vacuum Truck is used by the Lindenhurst Department of Public Works for cleaning storm water drainage lines, drainage basins, and culverts to ensure effective positive water flow.  Mayor Lavorata said, “Storm water vacuum cleaning is a cost effective method of removing the dirt, grit, and other debris that can build up and result in partial or complete interruption of leaching and storm water flow.”   The Vacuum Truck uses high pressure water while simultaneously vacuuming back flushed debris and water from the catch basin or manhole into an enclosed and sealed collection body.  Pictured here at the vacuum truck is (l-r) Department of Public Works employee Frank Gandiosi, Village Administrator Douglas Madlon, and Mayor Michael Lavorata.

Hurricane Preparedness Forum – August 17, 2017 7:30 PM at the Rainbow Senior Center

The Village of Lindenhurst is making concerted efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. As part of this effort, Mayor Mike Lavorata and the Board of Trustees will be hosting a Hurricane Awareness Forum for our residents. The forum will be held at the Rainbow Senior Center on August 17, 2017 starting at 7:30 PM. All residents, and especially those living south of Montauk Highway who were so severely impacted and still recovering almost five years later, are invited to attend. [Read more…]

American Flag Dedicated to WWII Veteran

Mayor Michael Lavorata and the Lindenhurst Village Board recently honored World War II Veteran and longtime Lindenhurst resident Harry Prodromides by dedicating an American Flag to be permanently on display in the Village Hall Board Room.  Village Administrator Douglas Madlon said, “It is important that we continue to appreciate and honor our veterans not just on holidays, but every day.”  Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle said “I am incredibly proud that the Village recognizes Harry for his many years of service serving our Country during WWII and as a Lindenhurst Fireman.”

Cub Scouts Plant Tree for Arbor Day

As part of the Village’s Arbor day Celebration Cub Scout Pack 60 assisted the Village Horticulturist in planting a tree on West Gates Avenue.  Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “What a wonderful way to celebrate Arbor Day by having our Cub Scouts plant a tree.”  Pictured here with the Scouts are Village employee Keith Arco, Horticulturist John Kehoe, Cub Scout Co-Leader David Collins, Trustee Joan Masterson, Mayor Michael Lavorata, Administrator Douglas Madlon and Cub Scout Co-Leader Jenn Ferrarelli.
