Village Downtown Master Plan

November 14, 2019 by Katie McCaffrey

The Village will soon have its first Downtown Master Plan. The planning team of Babylon-based Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is currently developing the plan which will be another crucial piece of Lindenhurst’s downtown revitalization efforts.

Similar to our Downtown Walkability Improvement Study which the Village Board unanimously adopted in August, GPI is developing the Downtown Master Plan by fully engaging our community. In early November, GPI updated the Village Board and the Chamber of Commerce on the progress of the plan development. Frank Wefering and Ankita Rathi presented findings from the community engagement activities and the Online Master Plan Survey which resulted in over 1,100 individual entries – in their view an outstanding response level for a community of our size.

GPI is currently developing draft recommendations in the areas of transportation, parking, as well as land use and economic development. Village residents and stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide feedback on these draft recommendations in a public meeting in January. Please stay tuned for the meeting announcement.
