
Rainbow Center Scholarship Awarded
Marina Grais was recently presented with the Rainbow Senior Center’s $1,000.00 scholarship. Marina is a student at Lindenhurst High School. Funds for the scholarship are raised during the annual “Senior Citizen Prom.” The scholarship is open to all Lindenhurst School District students.

Village Resident Achieves Rank of Eagle Scout

Village Employee Retires after 28 Years
Lindenhurst Village Department of Public Works employee Richard Spoor has retired after serving the Village for the past 28 years. Village Administrator Douglas Madlon thanked Mr. Spoor for his service to the Lindenhurst community and wished him a happy, healthy retirement.

Evangelical Church of God hosted Easter Egg Hunt
The Evangelical Church of God recently sponsored an Easter Egg Hunt at Firemen’s Park. The event featured face painting, animal balloons, hot dogs, popcorn and so much more. A special thank you to the Pastor Rick Mullins, his wife Rita and the Evangelical Church of God for continually giving back to our community!

Maryann Weckerle Appointed as Deputy Mayor
During the March 7th meeting of the Lindenhurst Village Board, Mayor Michael Lavorata appointed Trustee Maryann Weckerle (pictured left) as the Deputy Mayor. Mayor Lavorata said, “It is an honor to appoint my friend and colleague as the Deputy Mayor of the Village of Lindenhurst. Trustee Weckerle has performed an outstanding service for our community as a Trustee, and we all deeply appreciate her willingness to serve as our Deputy Mayor.”
Rainbow Center Volunteer Luncheon
Each year the Lindenhurst Rainbow Senior Citizens Center hosts a volunteer appreciation luncheon for the wonderful volunteers at the Senior Center. Trustee Joan Masterson said, “We are so thankful for the many volunteers and for all of their hours of volunteer service, and we hope that each individual knows how much their efforts make a difference in the lives of the seniors here in Lindenhurst.”

Peter Harrigan Receives Pilgrim Degree of Merit
Peter Harrigan of the Lindenhurst Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1421 recently received the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. The Pilgrim Degree is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the Moose. Mayor Thomas Brennan attended the designation ceremony and presented Peter with a proclamation designating August 29,2016 as Peter Harrigan Day in the Village of Lindenhurst and urges all residents to join in celebrating Peter Harrigan’s achievements and selfless dedication to the residents of Lindenhurst.
