The Village of Lindenhurst reminds residents that the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for Suffolk County beginning Wednesday afternoon through Friday evening. Dangerous heat and humidity are expected, with heat index values potentially reaching 105°F or higher. This level of heat can quickly become hazardous, especially for older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and those without access to air conditioning. Safety reminders: Drink plenty of water throughout the day Limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours Stay in air-conditioned or shaded areas whenever possible Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance Never leave

LINDENHURST VFW WADE-BURNS POST 7279 CELEBRATES 80TH ANNIVERSARY

Local Spotlight
The Lindenhurst Veterans of Foreign Wars Wade-Burns Post 7279 recently celebrated its 80th anniversary with an Open House event that included a special ceremony honoring the Post, its Past Commander Thomas A. Kelly, and the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst’s “Hometown Heroes” Program. On May 18, 1946, a group of 50 local overseas combat veterans established the Lindenhurst VFW Wade-Burns Post 7279. The Post was proudly named in honor and memory of Lindenhurst servicemen United States Army Corporal John M. “Jack” Wade and United States Navy Seaman First Class Edward J. Burns, who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II.
