As you may know, Governor Hochul has at least for now, removed the Accessory Dwelling Unit mandate from the NY State Budget. You may also know that it was included in a budget rather than debated as a separate issue. If not for the amazing work of the Suffolk County Village Officials Association (SCVOA) and our Counsel, it may have not been detected and could have passed along with the overall budget. Keep Lindenhurst Clean: Proper Pool Drainage Matters

As warmer weather approaches and many residents begin preparing their pools for the season, the Village of Lindenhurst would like to remind everyone of an important community responsibility. It is a violation of Village Code (158-7) for both residents and commercial pool companies to pump or discharge pool water into the street. This runoff does not simply disappear—it flows into storm drains, enters local waterways (creeks and canals), and ultimately impacts the Great South Bay. The Lindenhurst Historical Society will offer a preview of the newly renovated Freight House, part of the Village’s 1901 Restored LIRR Depot and Freight House Museum Saturday March 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Built in January 1901 as the third depot to serve the Breslau/Lindenhurst community, the Society will celebrate the buildings’ 125th Anniversary with the completion of a 2 year-long renovation project enhancing both buildings and the adjoining railroad hack. Lindenhurst, NY – The Lindenhurst Historical Society invites residents, history buffs, and railroad aficionados to take a “sneak peek” at the newly renovated Freight House, one of the three buildings that make up the museum complex at Irmisch Historic Park, located at the intersection of South Broadway and South Third Street on Saturday March 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
