Mayor Michael Lavorata was the guest speaker at the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce October meeting held at RipTides restaurant. The mayor informed the Chamber members of the many projects being implemented in the Village. He also spoke about the ongoing progress of the Downtown Business District. Mayor Lavorata said, “I was honored to socialize with the vibrant member of the Lindenhurst Business Community.”
The Lindenhurst Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1491 celebrated its 69th Anniversary with its annual dinner. The celebration included special recognition of Christopher Ahlers, who received his Fellowship Degree and blue jacket. The Fellowship Degree is awarded to members who have demonstrated leadership ability; by giving their time and effort to serve on multiple Moose committees, and by being a loyal, enthusiastic, and active member of the lodge. Mr. Ahlers was also honored as the 2021 Moose of the Year. Also recognized was Moose member, firefighter Mark Miller who along with Lt. John Tighe Jr., was named New York State Firefighter of the Year. The Moose Lodge also honored and thanked Peter Harrigan for serving as Administrator for the past 15 years.

The update reflects a move of the Southhampton Early Voting Site to the Stony Brooke University Student Activities Center located at 39 Tuckahoe Road, Southampton NY.
There are a lot of dedicated people in our Lindenhurst Community, working hard and volunteering their time to deliver all types of services and resources to meet the needs of our residents. We are all very busy, but it is also important to pause sometimes and ensure that we are communicating about what is going on, and why, and how, residents can get informed and make themselves heard.
Lindenhurst Community Cares Coalition, under the direction of Lori-Ann Novello, did just that this past week with their annual “Spirit of the Community” meeting. At the event, numerous service clubs and organizations made presentations regarding what their group does, and how we all benefit.
Mayor Michael Lavorata and Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle both attended, and thanked Ms. Novello and her staff for a very well-done, informative program, with participation from many of our community leaders.

The Lindenhurst Village Hall staff recently held a breakfast to thank Building Inspector Josephine Castelli for her dedicated service to the Village. Ms. Castelli has taken a job in the Town of Smithtown.

Mayor Michael Lavorata, Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle, and Trustees Joan M. Masterson, RJ Renna, and Patrick Pichichero joined other local officials and leaders to congratulate The Coughlan family, owners of TriTec, as they held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of The Wel. The Wel is the 260 residential unit apartment complex located at 75 East Hofman Avenue.
Following the ceremony, Tritec sponsored at charitable tasting event, “Wel-come To Lindenhurst” featuring food and drink from a variety of Lindenhurst restaurants, cafes, micro-breweries, and meadery. Proceeds from the event were donated to Long Island Cares.
Christian Hutter, of Boy Scout Troop 1634, received the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor Ceremony, on October 1st, at the Lindenhurst Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. To become an Eagle Scout, a Scout must earn 21 merit badges, demonstrate Scout spirit, serve actively in the troop, hold a leadership position, and produce a service project.
Trustee Joan M. Masterson said, “It was an honor being at Christian’s Court of Honor celebration. Christian is a shining example of our leadership of tomorrow.”
Mayor Michael Lavorata added, “What a privilege it was to designate October 2nd as ‘Christian Hutter Day’ in the Village of Lindenhurst. Our community salutes you.”

Mayor Lavorata said, “I would like to thank the Lindenhurst Rotary Club and the Moose Lodge for helping to make this year’s Oktoberfest another great Village Downtown event! The Moose food booth was delicious, and the Fall weather was perfect for the Oktoberfest festivities.”
On October 3rd, a fun, family tradition continued as the Lindenhurst Rotary Club’s Oktoberfest returned to the Village’s Downtown. The event included German food, a Beer Garden, vendors, and lots of other types of foods from our local Downtown eateries.
Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “I would like to thank the Lindenhurst Rotary Club for continuing the Oktoberfest tradition here in our Village. I hope everyone enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to spend time with their families, friends, and neighbors on a beautiful Fall day.”

Every year, the Village of Lindenhurst hosts a free concert series at Village Square Park. This year’s concerts featured some awesome performances, family fun, and great entertainment in the Village’s Downtown.
