Village of Lindenhurst Shares Important Emergency Preparedness Tips for Residents

Village of Lindenhurst Trustee David Collins recently held an Emergency Preparedness Meeting with Mike from the Office of Emergency Management to discuss ways residents can prepare for emergencies and help first responders when assistance is needed.

For residents who were unable to attend, the Village encourages everyone to take a few simple steps to help keep themselves, their families, and their community safe.

Here are a few important ways to prepare:

  • Make Sure Your House Numbers Are Visible: Clearly display your house numbers so police, fire, and ambulance personnel can quickly locate your home during an emergency. Make sure the numbers are easy to see from the street, especially at night.
  • Sign Up for Suffolk County Alerts: Register for Suffolk County’s emergency notification system, SuffolkAlert, to receive important emergency notifications and public safety information.
  • Download the My Lindy App: Stay connected with the Village of Lindenhurst by downloading the My Lindy app for Village updates, announcements, and important community information.
  • Register for Smart911: Create a Smart911 profile to provide emergency responders with important information that may help them better assist you and your family during an emergency.

Taking these steps now can make a difference when an emergency occurs. Residents are encouraged to take a few minutes to review their emergency preparedness plans, make sure their contact information is up to date, and ensure their homes can be easily identified by first responders.

The Village of Lindenhurst thanks Trustee David Collins and the Office of Emergency Management for helping educate residents on the importance of emergency preparedness.
