Mayor's Message

With the current predictions of Hurricane Henri, the National Weather Service has issued a “Hurricane Watch” for Suffolk County. There are still some uncertainties in the future track of Henri and intensities, but, currently, Lindenhurst should begin to see some initial effects, in the form of wind, late Saturday, with rain commencing early Sunday Morning. That said, I think this is a good occasion for the Lindenhurst Community to check to make sure we are all prepared for whatever Hurricane Henri has in store for the Village. The presentation will be led by Suffolk County’s Office of Emergency Management and will coverimportant topics like stocking up on winter essentials, recognizing signs of frostbite and hypothermia, and accessing local resources. Local Spotlight

The Village of Lindenhurst recently held a press conference to help promote the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services FreshConnect Checks Program, and the federal Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). Both of these programs enable eligible participants – including veterans, service members, their families, and qualified, low-income senior citizens – to purchase healthy, fresh, local fruits and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets and farm stands. One of those participating markets is the Lindenhurst Farmers Market, opening for the season on Saturday, May 10th, at Lindenhurst Village Square Park.
