Mayor’s Message – July 2023

Mayor's Message
A MESSAGE FROM LINDENHURST MAYOR MICHAEL LAVORATA It is that time of the year when temperatures are climbing, with some days over 90 degrees. The excessive heat can be very dangerous for everyone, especially pets, infants, and the elderly.  Here are some helpful tips on how to stay cool and safe during excessive heat days: Eliminate strenuous activities until the heat of the day has passed Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing. Minimize direct exposure to the sun, and wear sunglasses and sun screen. Drink plenty of water. Take time to go to the beach, a pool, or shady park.

Lindenhurst Historical Society Seeks Community Photos and Videos for 25th Anniversary 9/11 Documentary

In the News

It will also document the community’s commitment to never forget—a commitment that led to the creation of the Lindenhurst 9/11 Memorial Garden and continues each year through

Local Spotlight
The Lindenhurst Veterans of Foreign Wars Wade-Burns Post 7279 recently celebrated its 80th anniversary with an Open House event that included a special ceremony honoring the Post, its Past Commander Thomas A. Kelly, and the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst’s “Hometown Heroes” Program. On May 18, 1946, a group of 50 local overseas combat veterans established the Lindenhurst VFW Wade-Burns Post 7279. The Post was proudly named in honor and memory of Lindenhurst servicemen United States Army Corporal John M. “Jack” Wade and United States Navy Seaman First Class Edward J. Burns, who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II.
