A MESSAGE FROM LINDENHURST MAYOR MICHAEL LAVORATA

Mayor's Message

JANUARY 23, 2026 SANITATION CHANGE

In the News
In anticipation of the impending snow storm, the following changes have been made to the sanitation schedule for next week: There will be no sanitation or recycling pickup on Monday, January 26. South side of LIRR sanitation will be picked up on Tuesday, January 27, along with R1 and R2 recycling. North side of LIRR sanitation will be picked up on Wednesday, along with R3 recycling. No grass/leaf pickup that week. These temporary changes to the sanitation schedule allow Department of Public Works staff to focus on storm response and recovery efforts. Thank you for your understanding.

Local Spotlight
The Village of Lindenhurst Board of Trustees recently recognized the creativity and community spirit of the many local organizations that participated in the 2025 Mayor’s Beautification Society (MBS) Holiday Wreath Festival. As part of this annual tradition, the MBS provides wreaths to local scouting troops, community organizations, and service groups. Each group decorates its wreath in a unique and imaginative theme, and the finished designs are proudly displayed throughout the holiday season in the windows of downtown Lindenhurst businesses, adding festive charm to the Village. Deputy Mayor, and MBS Chairperson, Maryann Weckerle said, “The Holiday Wreath Festival truly brought joy
