Important Storm Information

December 22, 2022 by Katie McCaffrey Leave a Comment

A potent low pressure system remains on track to bring periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and widespread moderate to locally major coastal flooding to the area from late tonight into Friday. Blustery cold temperatures will then work into the region behind the system late Friday afternoon into the weekend.

The entire region has been upgraded to Coastal Flood Warnings for Friday morning’s high tide. The threat remains for widespread moderate to localized major coastal flooding.

Residents are urged to move their vehicles to higher ground. In order to assist you, the Village is allowing residents to use the two LIRR commuter lots, and the Shore Road Park parking lot, to park their vehicles until the flooding recedes.

Please note the following important emergency numbers:

Fire/Rescue — (631) 226-1212

Police Emergency — 911

Department of Public Works — (631) 957-7520

Public Safety – (631) 793-5366

PSEG – 1-800-436-PSEG to report downed wires and hazardous conditions

If there is an emergency, please call 911.

The Department of Public Works is prepared with sand and salt to handle expected icy conditions on Saturday.
