The Village of Lindenhurst, in conjunction with the Lindenhurst Historical Society, is excited to announce the September 100^th Anniversary event! The Historical Society, who is celebrating its 75^th anniversary, will be hosting a Volksmarch on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM.

A Volksmarch is a 3.1 mile family friendly and leisurely walk from one destination to another where participants learn about specific details of landmarks and history of the Village.

Registration begins at 9:00 AM the day of the event. Pre-registration is available beginning August 31, 2023.

Registration fees are a donation to the Lindenhurst Historical Society. Pre-registration donation is $13.00 for a single participant and $18.00 for a family. Event day registration is $15.00 for a single participant and $20.00 for a family.

The Volksmarch begins and ends at the Firemen’s Pavilion (Heiling Boulevard). The Breslau Engine Co. will be holding their annual Germanfest the day of the Volksmarch. Participation in the Volksmarch gets you free entry into the Germanfest!

Help the SSFC Bulldogs United get to Nationals! Lindenhurst Mayor Michael Lavorata recently attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for Jonathan Miller, Lance Novick, Jonathan Reggi and Ajay Sigh of Boy Scout Troop 284, which was held at Copiague Middle School.  Eagle Scout is the highest honor a Boy Scout can achieve after completing hours of community service, finishing an Eagle Scout project, and attaining numerous merit badges.  Mayor Lavorata was joined by Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey, in presenting each Eagle Scout a day in their honor as recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Mayor Lavorata said, “Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout is a prestigious achievement, and I am so proud of each of these young people.”
