As our community prepares to mark the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Lindenhurst Historical Society is honored to begin production of a documentary that will preserve Lindenhurst’s story of that day and the years that followed.
The documentary will remember the members of our community we lost, reflect on the immediate response of our residents, and tell the story of how Lindenhurst came together in the days, months, and years afterward. It will also document the community’s commitment to never forget—a commitment that led to the creation of the Lindenhurst 9/11 Memorial Garden and continues each year through our annual Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony.
We are asking for your help.
If you have photographs or videos from any of the following, we would be grateful if you would consider sharing them with us for possible inclusion in the documentary:
· Community candlelight vigil held on the evening of September 12, 2001, at Village Square
· LFD/Village/Community relief efforts that supported workers at Ground Zero
· Annual Candlelight 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies
· Community fundraising events held to support the creation of the 9/11 Memorial Garden
· 2007 Dedication Ceremony of the Lindenhurst 9/11 Memorial Garden
· Walk To Remember silent procession from Village Square to the 9/11 Memorial Garden site
· Any other photos or videos that capture how Lindenhurst came together to honor, remember, and support one another in the aftermath of September 11th.
Whether you caught a quiet moment of remembrance, a community gathering, or a fundraising event, your memories can help ensure that future generations understand how Lindenhurst responded with compassion, unity, and resilience.

Together, we can preserve these memories and ensure that the story of Lindenhurst’s response to September 11—and our enduring promise to Never Forget—will continue to be told for generations to come.
