Message from Trustee Patrick M. Pichichero

LINDENHURST TEAMS WITH PROPERTY REGISTRATION CHAMPIONS

Lindenhurst Village Trustee Patrick M. Pichichero has announced that, in an effort to enhance property maintenance compliance, and streamline workload, the Village of Lindenhurst has hired Property Registration Champions LLC (ProChamps), a private company, to administer the Village’s recently adopted Foreclosure and Vacant Property Registration program.  ProChamps will oversee a data base of the overwhelming number of mortgage foreclosures of residential and commercial properties.  Abandoned and foreclosed properties often become eyesores and nuisance problems with neglected landscaping, debris build-up, structure maintenance issues, and can even become an attraction for squatters.  Currently 97 homes in the Village of Lindenhurst are in mortgage default.

“Our goal is to combat blight, and improve quality of life, through this proactive, property registration program,” said Trustee Pichichero.

As part of the program, banks must register their contact information for homes in default on their mortgage.  ProChamps staff researches, identifies, and contacts the responsible parties.  ProChamps creates and maintains a register of the foreclosed properties, and Village Code Enforcement can then utilize this cutting edge, web-based interactive data base to communicate directly with the responsible parties, saving time and manpower.

Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle added, “We are excited to implement this program, at no cost to the Village, or property owners.”
