9-11 CANDLELIGHT REMEMBRANCE SERVICE

August 31, 2021 by Katie McCaffrey

September 11, 2001, will live in the mind of every American throughout time. America will never forget 9/11/01.  Lindenhurst will never forget.  September is a time to remember all that was lost to us that day: our sense of security, our peace, our innocence, our belief that we were safe beyond such random violence.  Most of all, we remember those who lost their lives on September 11th, and specifically, the eight Lindenhurst residents that lost or gave their lives that horrific day.

This year, the Village of Lindenhurst will be holding our 20th Year Candlelight Remembrance Service beginning at 7:00PM on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 at the Village’s 9-11 Memorial Garden, located on the south side of Lindenhurst Village Park, on Byrd Street between Irmisch Avenue and Heling Boulevard.  All are invited to attend.

Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “It would be an honor to have you join us as we mark the 20th anniversary of 9-11 and pause to remember.”  For further information about the program, call Lindenhurst Village Hall at 631-957-7500.
