VILLAGE ANNOUNCES PROJECT AT VILLAGE PARK

August 27, 2021 by Katie McCaffrey

The Village of Lindenhurst has announced plans for a project at Village Park (off of North Alleghany Avenue, between Byrd Street & Charles Street), which will include renovations to the tennis and basketball courts, as well as the addition of two pickleball courts.  The project is expected to begin construction by the end of October.

Trustee RJ Renna said, “Pickleball is a growing sport and these courts will provide a central location in our Village for residents to play this game.”

Mayor Michael Lavorata added, “The two pickleball courts will be a nice enhancement to our Village Park.  This is one of the many on-going projects the Village is undertaking to ensure our Village is a great place to live, work, and play — pickleball, basketball, and tennis!”

Pictured here at the groundbreaking ceremony (left to right) are:  NYS Senator Phil Boyle, Trustee RJ Renna, Mayor Michael Lavorata, Gus Karagrozis, Superintendent of Public Works Rick Sorrentino, Trustee Patrick Pichichero, Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce President Jo-Ann Boettcher, and Parks Department employee Anthony Gambino.

VILLAGE FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF

August 27, 2021 by Katie McCaffrey

Mayor Michael Lavorata has requested flags to be flown at half-staff at all Village of Lindenhurst buildings and grounds in honor of the victims of Thursday’s suicide bombings in Afghanistan.  13 U.S. Troops, and nearly 95 Afghans, died in the attacks.

Mayor Lavorata said, “Please pause and pray for the souls of all whose lives were taken due to these senseless acts of terror.”
