LINDENHURST REMEMBERS

September 16, 2021 by Katie McCaffrey

On the beautiful evening of September 11th, Lindenhurst residents gathered at the 9-11 Memorial Garden to remember those from our community who passed twenty years ago on September 11, 2001, those First Responders who have since passed from Ground Zero related sickness, and the 13 U.S. Soldiers who died in the terrorist attack at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.  The memorial service was a reflective time of earnest prayers, respectful moments of silence, moving music, and heartfelt words from our local elected officials.

Mayor Michael Lavorata said, “We will never forget the families that lost loved ones on September 11th, and from Ground Zero related ailments.”

Pictured here are Mayor Lavorata, and former Mayor Lynda Distler, reading the mission statement of the Lindenhurst Remembers 9-11 Memorial Garden.
