Annual Tree Lighting at the Rainbow Senior Citizen Center

The sounds of the Christmas season echoed through the Lindenhurst Rainbow Senior Citizen Center as the annual tree-lighting ceremony officially illuminated the center’s Christmas tree. Trustee Joan M. Masterson was honored to officially light the tree in front of over 100 people attending the event; a lunch was provided by the Lindenhurst Rotary Club. Mayor Michael A. Lavorata said, “What a great way to start the holiday season right at the Rainbow Center.”

Mayor Michael A. Lavorata recently attended the grand opening of Bakuto, a new Japanese restaurant, with Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle, Trustee Patrick Pichichero and Village Administrator Douglas Madlon. Owners, Rachel Voges, Patrick Capellini, and Vincent D’Eletto stated, “We are so happy to have the support of the community and feel so welcomed in Lindenhurst.”. Mayor Lavorata said, “These people have worked very hard to make their dream of opening their own restaurant a reality.”.  Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle said, “We wish them the best of luck in their new business.”. Bakuto, 121 North Wellwood Avenue is a Japanese Izakaya restaurant. The menu includes noodles such, as ramen and udon, an assortment of daily crudo, Japanese steam buns, and robatayaki selection of grilled meats, fish, and vegetables.
