Mayor’s Message – May 2022

May 24, 2022 by Katie McCaffrey

The Village of Lindenhurst in conjunction with the United Veteran Council will resume its Memorial Day Parade tradition after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic on Monday, May 30, 2022.
The parade will kick off with a ceremony at Breslau Cemetery at 8:00 AM. From there, the parade will head west on Newark Street, turn south on Delaware Avenue, and turn west on Charles Street where it will stop at Lindenhurst Fireman’s Memorial Park. At Fireman’s Memorial Park, another ceremony will take place. The parade will then head west on Hartford Street, and turn south on Wellwood Avenue. The parade will proceed down to the World War I Memorial at the intersection of Wellwood and Hoffman Avenues for another brief ceremony. The parade will once again proceed south on Wellwood Avenue for a closing ceremony on Lindenhurst Village Hall.
I, along with the rest of the Village Board, are encouraging residents to show their support for our veterans but also being sure to remember those we have lost. Please join our veterans, local officials, clergy, and local performers at Village Hall for the closing ceremony as we reflect and remember the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in service to our country.
The Memorial Day Remembrance ceremony will take place on South Wellwood Avenue at Lindenhurst Village Hall, 430 South Wellwood Avenue, immediately following the parade. We hope you can join us as we honor those who have served our country.
