Winter Storm Information

January 31, 2021 by Katie McCaffrey

In the event of a winter storm, the Village of Lindenhurst Department of Public Works asks each resident to do the following:

  1. Keep vehicles off the road. Put your vehicle in your driveway, or ask a neighbor to share theirs. If a driveway is not an options, lawns can be used to park vehicles only in the event of storm where the roadways need to be cleared (this will not harm the lawn).
  2. Try not to clear your driveway until the plows are finished. When the street is completed, pile the snow to the right of the driveway.
  3. Do not blow snow into the roadway. A summons can be issued for doing so and creating a road hazard.
  4. Keep your vehicle all the way in your driveway. Do not have it hanging into the roadway while the roads are being plowed. The drivers may not see it and damage to the vehicle may occur.

The Village is not responsible for any damages that occur during a snow event.

If all residents follow these suggestions, it will allow the Department of Public Works to do their job quickly and safely.

Main roads and emergency snow routes will be first priority and then side streets to follow.

For questions about plowing, please contact the Department of Public Works at (631) 957-7520 or highway@villageoflindenhurstny.gov . Facebook will not be utilized as a means of reporting streets that need to be plowed.
