Effective immediately, the Village of Lindenhurst has changed the hours that a permit is required for parking at the Long Island Railroad Station to better accommodate occasional night time users of the railroad. The hours a parking permit is required is now 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.
Previously, those who traveled into New York City in the late afternoon between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. had to obtain a temporary parking permit. As Village Hall closes at 4:30 p.m. most of these occasional railroad users could not easily get a temporary permit, especially if they got home from work or school after 4:30.
“Residents who occasionally head into New York City for the evening or want to take a short trip to another Long Island Railroad community will not have to worry about getting a one day pass for the parking lots” stated Trustee Maryann Weckerle. “This change in hours that permits are required will be a good benefit for local residents.”
